Haley Wagner

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fresno State alumna Haley Wagner and her husband agreed that it would be a good idea to address their estate plans. As they worked through the process with their estate attorney, they decided to include a legacy gift to Fresno State.

"I wanted to allocate funds from my estate to my alma mater, Fresno State's College of Arts and Humanities. The university, as a whole, is a major contributor to the City of Fresno, a drive of talent, community resources, and revenue. It is an integral component of the overall health of our community. One that I was not raised in but chose to make my home. It is important that the university can sustain itself for future generations."

Haley was inspired by her passion for the arts to establish a scholarship which will benefit interior design students.

"The arts are woven into the very fabric of my being. I have found that the skills they provide, creative and critical thinking, the ability to adapt, compassion, and empathy to name just a few, are so highly valuable and yet the programs are so often underfunded. With how polarized the world has become, artists and humanists have never been more important."

Haley was very mindful of the impact her generosity would have on future generations of Fresno State students.

"My hope is that this gift will provide an opportunity for students to pursue their passions without bearing the full financial weight of their education. These majors are not inexpensive. There is specialized technology, supplies, travel, and other costs outside of traditional tuition or textbooks to consider. My methodology has long been to leave things better than when I found them. This is no exception."
