Having highly trained teachers early in life proved critical to my success, and my hope is that my gift will allow Fresno State to continue to educate qualified teachers of the Deaf now and forever. This is my lasting legacy as well as that of my parents. ~Joe Slotnick

The two animal science graduates, Dario with a Bachelor of Science degree and Celeste with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degrees, met at Fresno State. Dario was from Placerville and Celeste from Selma. Both took advantage of as many hands-on opportunities as their schedules allowed including participating on the livestock judging team, helping with field days and working at the beef unit as well as the beef range. Dario applied his education to the animal health industry, he retired in 2019 from the Walco group of companies. Celeste's career focused on higher education at UC Davis where she first focused in dairy science and then in development in the School of Veterinary Medicine. While she officially retired in 2018, she was convinced to come out of retirement to work for a newly launched pet food company.

Investing in the future of Fresno State was a priority for the Borellis. They have made a future gift through their estate plans to support deserving students majoring in animal science.
